What Do Dental Implants Involve

During your initial assessment, we will discuss your dental goals and develop a personalized treatment plan, outlining the steps, fees, and possible insurance assistance prior to starting treatment.

The steps of receiving your dental implant at Neighborhood Dental involve the following:

• An examination and 3D CBCT of your jaw to plan out the procedure.
• If the tooth to be replaced is still present, it will be extracted and a bone graft will be placed for preservation.
• Approximately 4-6 months after the tooth extraction, an implant will be placed in the bone and then allowed to heal for another 4-6 months.
• After full healing, Dr. Unterbrunner will use CEREC technology to place an implant crown in a single visit.

How Do I Care For Dental Implants?

It is important to maintain regular oral hygiene when taking care of your dental implants. Be sure to brush your teeth twice a day, using a toothbrush with soft bristles. Flossing regularly and using an small interdental brush is also helpful in cleaning hard-to-reach areas. Proper long-term maintenance of an implant also involves using a custom mouthguard that will mitigate excessive forces directed on the implant while clenching and grinding in your sleep.
